Observations: Drawing the future
Wan Zixiao
Taking inspiration from existing VR technologies, past futuristic visions, and my personal creative thinking, this thesis aims to speculate and imagine various influences and impacts of virtual reality on human life via analog processes — thus imagining a variety of possible futures.

I would love to illustrate each scenery that reflects the different aspect of the future. These drawings are based on my life experience and quick inspirations from the observation. For example, these inspirations come from playing VR games, watching a movie, or seeing an exhibition, even the people I meet at the subway station. I would like to choose these to draw because these sceneries make me thinking about what life will be like in the future. Previous VR and AR research is like a way to give me some hints to imagine the future. They have the attributes of the future and technology; however, it doesn’t get the massive application now. The drawings are showing the future sceneries in my mind. So I would like to keep the drawing abstract and mystery as much as I can, while the audience could understand and have their own interpretations.
