This thesis studies the internal relationship between people and social environments. How can design create conditions that encourage or strengthen bonding in an introverted or non-verbal way? With the use of conceptions as mindfulness, practicality and interruption in three different directions (reflect, attach and exchange), I rethink clothing as the medium looking for diversities and possibilities to enhance human bonding. I test different materials and methods(positive, negative etc.) to reconstruct clothing. It is the experience to tell stories, inspiring to use current conditions to enhance human interaction, and reflect the importance of conscientiousness and sensation in daily life.
Project RÉ is an experiment of transferring body environments into primary social environments to create more subtle, mindful and introverted conditions that encourage bonding
Attach
People are attached by what they wear, and they are affected by each other, which directly show the bonding in an introverted way
Reflect
The concept of “reflect” is to bring materials like mirrors into people’s daily garments that encourage human bonding in a mindful way. It is a possibility that you will find yourself reflecting on someone else, which is a form of invisible bonding
Exchange
This garment is inspired by the tool box. In this condition, the body environment becomes a platform to exchange, where it meets the need of offering and asking for help
