Media and Perceived Reality

When media is creating another reality, it’s critical that people have the awareness of how information is made, transmitted, and received. In the hope of helping improve people’s media literacy, this thesis aims to understand the relationship between media, information, people, and their perceived reality. My studies and design experiments questioned how people perceive reality and how does media affects people’s perception and further explored the idea of filtration throughout the communication process. .

A speculative news website that aims to showcase the mechanism of the filtration process in information communication. It provides the experience of how our perception might change by what’s presented through the media, that is to say, what interests are highlighted, reduced, selected, and excluded shape the discourse of the world.
