The Chronicles of Black Female Sexuality

The intersectionality within “the black woman” establishes a need to be the strong familial head but the religious subordinate, racially loyal, and overtly sexual. Adding on “millennial” creates additional levels of open-mindedness and balance between family and career. Perceptions of over-sexual beings and nonsexual caregivers of African descent combined with black people’s strong connections to spirituality produces even more scrutiny for black women. Media further backs up and solidifies the stereotypes, so how do you see agency and urgency given to black women and their diverse forms of sexuality in media, specifically on streaming platforms and social media?
