Towards a Design: Referencing Semiotics in Contemporary Dance

This thesis offers a new approach to communication design by viewing it in the interdisciplinary context of semiotics of theater, contemporary dance and movement analysis. In this thesis, communication design is aimed to generate theatricality through the process of transforming contemporary dance movement into semiotics. It is expected to design the perceptual communication process which is based on semiotics of dance movement. The design serves to awaken the perceptions of meanings and offer new perspectives of viewing movement.
