Ethical Ambiguity
Sarah Coplan
Since its advent in the late 1990s, social media has reshaped society and ultimately formed a culture within itself. This thesis focuses on gaining insight into how social media influences and transforms our culture and how this subsequently affects the role of the artist and designer in relation to their work. Additionally, it reflects on how social media can ultimately be used by artists and designers to critique the ethical decisions that are made through these platforms.

Thesis Book

Yay or Nay
In the era of social media, designers and artists will inevitably be tasked with assignments that may not align with their personal ethics. In order to address these topics, I designed a card game titled Yay or Nay, which positions the players in various situations to test their limits and facilitate a discussion around ethical ambiguity in the fields of art and design. The game takes inspiration for its questions from real-life situations expressed through people's postings on social media platforms and public controversies, bringing in various experiences and perspectives.
