The Agency & Freedom of Work
Soham Khadatare
Work is a major aspect of every person’s adult life contributing to about a third of the time they spend living. Yet little effort goes into developing a human-centred work environment. Challenging the dominant ideology of work as a means to pay bills, this thesis questions the current attitude towards work and speculates possibilities where work means much more.

Work and Repetition
The process of understanding work began with using verbs that represent it the best. Work can be seen as a repetitive activity with some variation.

Work and Play
The importance of having fun while working is explored in the design of this board game where there is no defined goal and the player is allowed to dictate their own objectives.
Work and Choice
Work, in a capitalist environment, involves choice. The choice between profit and well-being of people. C.E.Zero is a computer game designed to illustrate this choice by putting the player in the shoes of a coffee shop owner who manages or exploits employees to sustain a business.

Work and Privilege
The opportunity to choose what work you do and where you work is not available to everyone. The notion that work happens in an office cubicle is challenged and contrasted in this project by juxtaposing images of workplaces.
Work and Fun
Work is often restrictive and prescriptive in nature. This project challenges that idea and creates a goal-oriented theory of work where people get to solve problems in their own way and have fun in the process.
