A Guide to Truth
Jingyang Shi
This thesis begins with a study of the post-truth era in which alternative facts are prevalent: People lose confidence in the authenticity of the news and rely on subjective emotions to believe what they believe in. In such an environment, children’s fantasies based on reality but full of innocent imagination are incompatible with the post-truth but can serve as a contrast. Therefore, I further explore how designers can motivate fantasy truths to enlighten the post-truth. Based on this perspective, the direction of research focuses more on people’s negative attitudes toward truths and whether children’s fantasy truths will positively change their views. In this case, what inspiration can designers gain from children’s fantasies, works of art, and activities?

Pixelate News
I tried to create visual artwork from children's perspectives to feel the creative process that abandoned professional aesthetics in this project—combining the style of children's drawings with realistic news pictures to create a strong contrast. It's like the children's image of the world and the real world overlap. When we pixelate news images and clarify evidence, do we imagine the content and jump to conclusions?
