Cognition as a creative tool
Vincent Sylvester Wada
Our innate human ability to make sense of and interact with the physical world is the evidence that we need to prove that every human being is a creative and, by extension, a designer. I argue that creativity and design are crucial for survival and essential human characteristics. Hence, every human being is a designer.

A World Without Weapons
In this project, I imagined a world without weapons. I had presumed that weapons were the cause of violence. I had hoped that once we get rid of weapons, the world would be more peaceful and juster. But I was wrong. Violence is a human condition. And whether or not there are weapons, human beings can even use their bodies as weapons. Therefore, what needs to be tamed is the beast that lies in our hearts and minds.

Democracy and the Quantum Realm
We imagined what our “Freedom Future” would look like. We constructed an idea of democracy in a quantum realm. We asked how far we can push personal rights in a democracy. In this speculative design project, we imagined and created a future world where “those to be born” possess agency, and ideas of personal rights are pushed to their limits. Our exploration was an attempt to give subjectivity a chance. Is total freedom for everyone ever possible at every given time? Can this be imagined?

Spatial Intelligibility and Stress
While bemoaning the tyranny of spaces, I was also exploring the idea of friendly environments. I was rethinking wayfinding systems as a means to create comfort zones. My goal was to design spaces that empower users to think, know, remember, judge, solve and overcome problems in spaces. It then becomes crucial to accommodate all people regardless of their physical challenges, mental state, level of education, social status, and race or gender.

My hope for a beautiful sinking nation
In this project, I explored cartography as a tool for storytelling and social change. I translated my statement of purpose (while applying to Pratt) into a map that demonstrated what I hate about my country, what I love about my country, what I will use to change my country, what I dream for my country, and what I already possess to change my country. A myriad of Nigerian cultural artifacts inspired the visual language for this project.
