Driven by the ubiquity of information and communication technologies, our society is transforming into a vast exhibition
room for highly personal matters. This transformation, characterized by pervasive surveillance, extensive databases, and
the rapid global dissemination of information, collectively blurs the boundaries between the public and private spheres
in unprecedented ways. Reality shows are an optimal medium to showcase high integration between the public and private
domains. By analyzing reality television’s production structures and visual elements, we can understand how these
programs utilize voyeuristic shots, internal confessionals, and exaggerated emotions and conflicts to influence and
shape viewers’ understanding of and expectations for privacy and public exposure.
