This thesis explores how we cultivate a sense of belonging through design. My research examines the shared rituals,
physical gestures, team colors, and collective experiences that define soccer fandom, demonstrating how these elements
transcend individual differences in the same team. By analyzing these practices, the study reveals how sports-inspired
design can leverage shared goals, visual identity, and physical engagement to promote inclusivity, unity, and the
universal need for connection.
The aim is to uncover strategies for transforming abstract emotions, such as belonging and shared passion, into tangible
design elements that bridge social gaps and strengthen communal ties. The thesis advocates for integrating these
insights into design to build healthier, more connected communities where individuals are motivated to interact and
thrive as part of something larger than themselves.
