Death is the Catalyst and Everything Else is the Response

This work is an ongoing process of object creation in partnership with an existing poetry series investigating grief, vulnerability, and intimacy through the construction of objects and the deconstruction and recontextualization of language. In an attempt to understand my own feelings of grief without judgment, I physicalized the emotions into tactile bedroom objects. Through the creation and sharing of these objects with a series of people, new relationships are built, and new shared understandings of emotionality are found. In having people sleep with pillows I created and keep a log of the dreams they had and thoughts and feelings about the experience, I took them through the same method of making that I was employing myself. A level of intimacy that did not exist before is made through our shared experiences with the objects.
