Devotion, Divination & Discount
Yan Leng
Adopting the structure of a traditional Chinese, this project reveals the underlying mechanisms of commodified faith that are embedded within daily experience. Rooted in ancient divination practices and festival rituals across cultures, the calendar grounds major moments of consumption within religious significance. Through layered visuals and mixed media, the project creates a familiar and accessible surface that invites audiences to touch the work, while uncovering deeper cultural and economic forces.
