Package Beyond Vision
Jingyao Yuan
Packages rely primarily on their visual elements to communicate to the person engaging with them. They also rely on a simple messaging system, a phrase rather than a story. This thesis intends to develop a package system that appeals to our other senses, not just our sense of sight, to let consumers ‘feel’ the product through the package. The application of acoustic, haptic, and olfactory feedback to a package’s design can offer a richer experience to a consumer as they interact. This new model provides the opportunity to evoke narrative scenes in their imagination which make deeper connections.
