Augmented reality (AR) technology has the capability to make packaging more sustainable. Its use could reduce extraneous materials and production processes while, at the same time, providing more information on packaging. This information could include: replacing complex graphics, creating multilingual packaging, and changing the perceived shape of the packaging. This thesis project will explore a diversity of shapes and materials to showcase how this sustainable packaging system can leverage AR to increase sustainability while also improving customer experience.
