This Capstone project explores design as a transformative tool for sex and gender education in India, where conversations around consent, identity, relationships, and bodies are too often shaped by stigma and silence. Research identified that the core gap is no longer solely about access to information, but about the absence of empathy and culturally safe spaces for dialogue.
In response, the project developed The Touchy Subject Co., a conversational card-based toolkit designed to encourage open, intergenerational discussions around sex and gender education. Through game-based interaction, accessible language, and culturally grounded design, the toolkit reframes sex education as a shared conversation rather than a purely instructional system.
The project ultimately positions design as a catalyst for cultural change: creating tools that foster empathy, reflection, and more honest conversations in contemporary India.
